There was no rest for our Wellington College golfers over Christmas and the New Year, with members of the Golf Team hard at work on the course preparing for, and competing in, a number of tournaments. We are delighted to update you on their impressive achievements.
Senior School Student, Max, competed in the Thailand Junior Development Tournament at Suvarnabhumi Golf and Country Club, and finished runner-up within a strong field of 16 players.
Our youngest member of the Wellington Golf Team, Nava, was the overall winner at the GAD Thailand Championship (Class E, female), which was staged at the Dynasty Golf and Country Club.
Ben, in the Senior School, has been very busy during the school holidays competing in three tournaments. In the APLUS tournament, he competed against older players over a long-distance course, finishing a credible 6th. This tournament performance puts him in a good position to enter future tournaments in the US. Furthermore, Ben also won TJDT Western and Central tournaments – a great way to round off a successful school holiday.
Finally, Gam, also in the Senior School, competed in a Trust golf event, for which she had to qualify, in Florida USA over the Christmas period. Gam finished a very respectable 6th with over 20 girls competing in her division from many different countries around the world. Gam shot scores of 73-71-79 for a 7 over par total. A great achievement for Gam as this is her first time playing abroad.Congratulations to all our golfers for the continued hard work and commitment. We look forward to sharing more details of their achievements during Lent Term.
