The inaugural Under 11s Twenty20 cricket tournament was held on Saturday 25 June on a sunny centre court. Families enjoyed a highly competitive match between the Wellington Werewolves and the College Cheetahs, which saw the Cheetahs victorious by 31 runs with a total score of  85 from their 120 balls. There was a fine display of bowling, batting, and fielding talent from both teams, with outstanding individual performances from Sky (28 runs and 2 wickets), Gabriel (17 runs and 4 wickets), Punn (17 runs and 2 wickets), and JJ (13 runs and 3 wickets). Daniel scored 23 runs, and both Felix and Thomas contributed 3 wickets. The first ever Most Valuable Player award fittingly went to Sky, who captained the Cheetahs to victory. The morning finished with a BBQ brunch and a medals ceremony.

Peter Church (Head of Cricket) and Saiju Mammen (Coach) are already looking towards the next academic year. There has been a meeting with Cricket Thailand on partnership opportunities. There are also plans for an inter-school cricket tournament in Michaelmas Term.

Peter Church commented on the achievements of the 14 cricketers who have been involved with the squad this Summer Term: ‘I am delighted with the progress that every player has made over the last 10 weeks. It is hard to believe that this is an entirely new sport for many of the team. I am really excited about the opportunities for the new academic year and particularly the chance to compete with other international schools. With so much talent and dedication in our Under 11 squad, I am confident that Wellington Cricket will be a force to reckon with.’
