A very warm welcome to our new and returning families to Wellington College International School Bangkok. Today, we were delighted to safely welcome parents to Wellington to collect their children’s resource packs. Teachers have been working incredibly hard over the last few weeks to ensure the Remote Learning provision is tailored to the specific needs of each child.
Specialisms across the curriculum have been catered for with access to iPads, musical instruments, library books & resources, Art & Design equipment, Science resources and PE equipment (and much more!) made available to students. Parents arrived at their allotted times and social distancing protocols were as always closely followed to keep our community safe.
Whilst Covid remains very much at the forefront of all our minds, it is heartening to see that the situation is improving in Bangkok and across Thailand.
There are further reasons to be positive, with staff at Wellington now fully-vaccinated, and the indications are that this current period of Remote Learning will not be lengthy. Measures are already in place to work towards a programme of reopening.
Wellington’s anti-Covid procedures have always been very strong and, with full vaccination and frequent ATK (antigen test kit) testing of all staff, we are very confident that we can maintain a safe environment for everyone.
Away from Covid, there continues to be an enormous amount of excitement and positivity in our community, with many wonderful new developments taking place over the summer.
In light of our continued growth, we are delighted to announce the arrival of our new teaching staff as we expand up into new year-groups in Senior School and increase our capacity in Junior School. All staff safely navigated quarantine and have been working incredibly hard over the last few weeks to prepare for the beginning of the new school year.
We welcome Dr Jim Panton as our new Head of Senior School. Jim’s highly impressive teaching career has taken him from the University of Oxford to Magdalen College School – one of the best academic schools in the UK where he was recently Head of Upper Sixth and Head of Politics.
We are particularly excited that our remarkable new Senior School building is nearing completion. We know that the quality of your child’s learning environment is fundamental to their wellbeing and their success in life, and the new Senior School is a beautiful marriage of design and educational philosophy. Supported by world-class teaching professionals who are always on hand to guide your child to achieving their aspirations, we are confident that our students will graduate from Wellington with confidence, having achieved outstanding academic success, ready to make a positive difference in the world.
Additionally, enhancements to our Junior School have also taken place over the summer with modifications to the Lobby, our Copenhagen coffee shop, and the Admissions Lounge to facilitate a more spacious, light and airy atmosphere when welcoming students and visitors to School.
We also welcome our inaugural cohort of Wellington Scholars to Senior School. Through a rigorous application and selection process, these students have demonstrated exceptional talent, potential, and achievement across academics, music, and sport. They will embark on a tailored programme to support their continued development, enrichment, and high performance.
As Wellington Bangkok begins a fourth year, we can reflect on so much that we have already achieved and look forward with great anticipation and enthusiasm for the future. Our students continue to excel and demonstrate an insatiable desire for learning through the guidance of our hard-working, outstanding teachers who themselves continue to evolve our visionary teaching practice. Our School community remains incredibly strong and unwavering in their support of our goals and philosophy. It is undoubtedly going to be another fantastic year of success here at Wellington.
