Sport
It’s a very long but successful weekend of Table Tennis for the boys in the Wellington Dukes Table Tennis Academy. On Saturday 9 November at the SISB Cup 2024, Gabriel (Year 6) reached the quarter finals of the U13 and U11 competitions, losing both matches by the narrowest of margins. Raphael (Year 5) made the quarter final of the U9 competition, in which Kraam (Year 5) also won through to the knockout stages.
On Sunday 10 November, after 14 hours of table tennis, Wellington secured three trophies at the national fair play tournament, the Multiverse Cup at Central Bangna. Gabriel was the U11 champion after winning all 10 of his matches and his brother, Raphael, kept it in the family, winning the U9 competition, only losing 1 set in 8 matches. Kraam also won the bronze medal in the U9 event.
We are thrilled to announce that Jackfruit (Year 9) has won the Boys' Under-14 Championship at the 8th PTT Lawn Tennis Development Tournament - Northeast Region! In a stunning turn of events, Jackfruit overcame a previous loss to his semifinal opponent and then defeated the top-seeded player in the final to claim the title. This victory has earned him the top spot in the LTAT PTT Series Rankings. A huge thank you to Coach Jay for his invaluable guidance and expertise which played a key role in Jackfruit’s remarkable success!
Congratulations, Jackfruit – we can’t wait to see what’s next!
Get ready to celebrate another tennis star! Emily (Year 6) claimed victory at the prestigious PTT Tournament in Chiang Rai this past weekend, winning every match without dropping a set including a semifinal win over the top seed and a 4-1, 4-2 final victory. This tournament is a key event in selecting the top 16 tennis players based on cumulative points and thanks to her outstanding performance, Emily has earned a place in the highly competitive PTT Masters tournament later this year. A huge congratulations to Emily for this incredible achievement!
Punn (Year 5) has truly mastered the best of both worlds—sport and music! At the Alpine Tennis10s Club Champion 2024, he won every match leading up to the final, where he triumphed over the No. 1 ranked player to secure 1st Runner-up in U10 Boys Singles.
