This week we are extremely proud to celebrate many ‘Stars of Wellington’ who have been achieving great success in activities and sports outside of School. We would like to take a moment to share some of these stories with you here.

Emily (Year 2) has been developing her passion for tennis over the last 18 months and recently took part in her first tournament in Thailand. Winning four matches in a row and beating the #17 and #28 ranked players in her age group on the way to the final, Emily finished runner-up, which was a brilliant achievement, especially given her relative inexperience of tournament tennis. Well done, Emily!

On to music, where Milin (Year 1) has been working very hard on her violin performances.  At the 23rd Osaka International Music Competition, Milin received fourth prize in the Infant C category. Milin also achieved the highest number of points for the violin among the non-Japanese finalists. Brilliant work, Milin!

This week, we also celebrate the achievements of Alice (Year 4) and her wonderful performance at the International Young Dancer Competition 2022 in Category Solo Ballet Age Group 7-9 Years Old, where she achieved third place.  You can enjoy Alice’s impressive performance here. Congratulations, Alice!

Wakeboarder, Ari (Year 4) was riding the waves of success last weekend at the Singha Cable Wakeboard and Wakeskate Thailand Championship Round 3. Competing in an age group significantly higher than here own age, Ari did brilliantly, finishing thrid in the U14 Girls category. What a fantastic achievement, Ari!

And finally, we move on to Ice Hockey, where a number of Wellingtonians played a key role in their team being crowned Thailand Ice Hockey Tournament 2022 U8 Champions.  Congratulations to Porsche (Captain Team) No.44  & Marven No.78  from Year 3 and Porter No.22 from Year 4 who battled against 18 leading ice hockey teams in Thailand at Mega Bangna, Bangkok.  Furthermore, each player received an MVP award with Porsche also picking up the ‘Thailand Ice Hockey Tournament 2022 BEST FORWARD U8’ award.

In the same tournament, Wellington student PJ (Year 7) also represented his team, the Ice Breakers with distinction, leading them to the final, and finishing runners-up. With excellent stats from his performance, PJ was also awarded an MVP for the tournament, finishing top scorer as a defencemen.

Fantastic news to round off what has been a busy and successful time for our Stars of Wellington! If your child has an achievement to celebrate, please tell us by writing to [email protected].

We will read all the achievements and choose a selection to share every week.
