Welcome to our final Stars of Wellington of Lent Term! It has been another incredibly busy and successful term here at Wellington, and outside of School our students continue to challenge themselves and achieve great success in a variety of sports and activities.

This week we begin with news from The World Scholars Cup (WSC) Regional Round, hosted by Bangkok Patana. Lincoln (Y5) demonstrated exceptional oratory, academic and problem solving  skills throughout the competition, coming away with a number of awards including –

  • 1st Place Individual Category - Top Cria Award, which is the award for overall top score in his year group
  • 1st Place Team Category - Top Cria Award;
  • Gold Medal -  Scholar Challenge (All Divisions);
  • Gold Medal Individual - Collaborative Writing (Junior);
  • Gold Medal School Best Scholar  (Junior);
  • Silver Medal - Team Bowl;
  • Silver Medal Team - Collaborative Writing (Junior);
  • Silver Medal - Team Debate (Junior); and
  • Silver Medal Scholar Champion.

As a result of Lincoln’s brilliant performance, he has now qualified to compete in the Global Round which, if successful, he will go on to the annual Tournament of Champions at Yale University.

An amazing performance from Lincoln at an event that attracted over 400 students from international schools across Bangkok. We look forward to hearing more exciting news from Lincoln in the near future!

In Music, a huge congratulations goes to Bamboo, also in Junior School who have been working incredibly hard on her piano. The dedication is paying off as she was recently awarded the Gold Prize at the 10th Hong Kong International Youth Performance Arts Festival – great job, Bamboo – we look forward to hearing about more of your musical accomplishments in the future!

Also in Music, Alice posted an amazing round of results at the China-Shanghai International Competition:

Preliminary Round :

  • Violin,  Alice won 2nd Prize Award and qualified to the final round competition in Shanghai, China.
  • Piano, Alice won Distinction Award and also qualified to the final round competition in Shanghai, China.

Final Round : 

  • Violin, Alice won Distinction Award, receiving a Trophy and a cash prize of 250 RMB.
  • Piano, Alice won Merit Award, receiving a Trophy and a cash prize of 100 RMB.

Furthermore, in the recent Voice of Asia Competition, Alice won a Distinction Award for her singing. You can watch her performance via this link :https://youtu.be/L0GRLU_f3Vw

Summer Term starts on 18th April, so until then, have a great Songkran Break everyone!
