Welcome to this week's Stars of Wellington, where we celebrate the varied and wonderful achievements of our students in their pursuits outside of School.
We begin with Golf, and the exciting news that Max (Year 10) and Nava (Year 3) have qualified to represent Thailand in their respective categories at the upcoming Junior World Championships and the FCG World Callaway Championship. Furthermore, this summer, Nava will defend her title at the US Kids World Championship in North Carolina. What tremendous news, and best of luck to the both of you!
In tennis, we bring you news of Emily’s latest performance at the Tennis 10s Junior Circuit tournament in Bangkok this past weekend (arranged by the Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand). She reached the final and played against Thailand's #1 in a tough match. Emily also partnered with the same player to take part in the doubles competition, narrowly losing in the final. It is a great outcome from Emily, who continues to play in the age group above her and now moves up the ranking to #3. Well done, Emily! Amazing progress!
In academics, congratulations to Mickey (Year 8) on winning GOLD from Eurasian Spelling Bee 2023 in his age category for Thailand, (preliminary round). Thank you for sharing the wonderful news with us!
Janine (Year 5) took part in the recent Hippo English Olympiad 2023, winning a Gold Medal in the preliminary round and then a Gold in the semi-final. This means Janine has qualified to join the next regional round in Kuala Lumpur during the summer vacation, and if successful, will then go on to the world final round in Rome in September! Well done Janine and best wishes to you in the next phase of the competition! Janine’s parents would also like to extend a special thank you to Janine’s class teacher, Mr Whitham for his support and guidance!
If you have some news you wish to share with School, please write to [email protected] and please remember to include a photo of your child either competing or with their award. Many thanks!
