Welcome to the first Stars of Wellington for the 2023-24 Academic Year!
Here we celebrate the achievements and accomplishments of our students as they pursue their passions outside of School. From sport to the arts, academics and beyond, we are always thrilled to find out about our students’ achievements.
This week, we start by sending our huge congratulations to Year 10 Swim Scholar, Skye, who over the summer took part in the English National Swimming Championships. In the 400 Metres Individual Medley (Boys 13-14) he won GOLD, dropping 16 seconds off his previous Personal Best time. That was not enough for Skye, who then went on to win another GOLD in the 200 Metres Individual Medley. As well as these medals, Skye also took part in other races with PB times. It's been a busy summer for all our swimmers and we are looking forward to lots of great results for all of our Wellington teams this year!
In Music, Janine has been working very hard on her violin playing, recently taking part in the Music Learning Festival 2023, achieving a gold medal in her category! Janine’s parents were keen to make a special mention to the Wellington Music Department, who have been supporting Janine on her journey, right from beginner to the present day. Fantastic progression Janine, and well done on your award!

Chris, another budding young musician here at Wellington joined the World Championship of Performing Art this year (WCOPA) which is held on July 28th – 6th August, 2023 in Garden Grove, Anaheim, California, USA. There were competitors from 77 countries around the world who joined the competition.
Chris did brilliantly, especially in vocals. She won Junior Division Winner awards (1st place with the highest score for age 10 and under) for 4 categories for vocals even though she is just 6 years old!
Congratulations, Chris! An amazing set of results!
Alice continue to make huge strides with her violin performances and over the summer competed in the “Music Learning Fest #9 Live in 2023” (supported by Trinity College London), which was held at Bangkok Art and Culture Centre Auditorium on Sunday 05 August, 2023.
Alice won a Gold Medal under Category I (Grade 3) with her stunning performance on stage together with piano accompaniment supported by Ete (our music scholar senior student) who also performed exciting and gorgeous melodious piano with Alice. What great teamwork from our Wellingtionians!
Moving on to Golf, Marker did brilliantly at the TGA-SINGHA Junior Golf Ranking 2023-2024 finishing 2nd runner up in the Class B Boy category. Congratulations, Marker!
Also in Golf, we are delighted to learn of another excellent performance from Music in the TJDT Tour 2023-2024 at the Pattana Golf and Resort (Central Region) where she finished 1st runner up!
Congratulations Music!
And finally, something slightly different! We have the amazing story of Mochi in Year 3 who is making huge progress as a young author! Illustrated and authored herself, Mochi has gained great attention through writing her children’s stories and raising money for a hospital for multiple disabilities in Nakornnayok province. Furthermore, the Preface to the books was written by our very own Mr Nicholls!
There are numerous news stories available, and you can find out more about this wonderful achievement here.
Congratulations to Mochi, you have done something incredibly unique – applying your talent and creativity to a fantastic cause!
And that’s it for this week. What a marvelous selection of achievements! We can’t wait to share more wonderful stories next time. Please send your stories – and a photo – to [email protected]. We are incredibly appreciative of English language copy, which will help our team publish your story.
