Welcome to another bumper edition of Stars of Wellington – your weekly selection of magnificent student extra-curricular achievements which have been shared with us by Wellington families.

In Academics, well done to Hada in Year 5 who has been awarded Level A1 in the 2023 KGL Contest for English. Good luck in the next stage!

Also in Academics, Lincoln participated in The World Scholar’s Cup (WSC) – Global Round held in Bangkok during 25 – 29 August 2023, involving 3,500 students from 40 countries from around the world. Lincoln received 2 gold medals and 2 silver medals as follows:

- Gold Medal – Debate Champion (Junior Division – under 13 category)

- Gold Medal – Top Cria Award which is the award for overall top score in his year group

- Silver Medal - Team Bowl (Junior Division – not over 13 years old)

- Silver Medal – Cria Top Team which is the award for overall top score in their year group.

In addition, he has now qualified to compete in the Tournament of Champions at Yale University, USA!

What a remarkable achievement, Lincoln, congratulations – and an incredibly exciting opportunity for you at the next stage!

In Music, congratulations to Ava who recently competed at the Macao IYMMC 2023 competition achieving second place!

Ava has also been busy competing in some online competitions -

- UK international Music award 2023 - First Place

- Rocky Mountain international music award season summer 2023- Second place

A brilliant set of results, Ava! Well done!

Staying with Music, Puifai had the opportunity to perform a piano concerto with Thai Youth Orchestra as part of the Piano Concerto Sensation Concert at the Thailand Cultural Centre.

Furthermore, her performances have been awarded from various competitions over the past summer:-

- Gold Prize Winner Award from the 5th WPTA Finland International Piano Competition for Piano Concerto Youth Division

- Platinum Prize Award from the Global Genius Music Competition - Concerto Category (no age limit)

- First Prize Winner Award from The Thomas F. Hulbert International Piano Competition for Concerto Division (age 10-17 years old)

Congratulations, Puifai! Simply outstanding!

Janine has been working very hard on her violin playing and was awarded a gold medal at the Young Musicians Open Stage in Junior Category on August 5, 2023.

Supported by her Wellington Music Teachers at the competition, this was a fantastic experience for Janine – well done on your award!

Also in Music, Milin (Year 2) finished first in her category in the Bangkok International Youth Music Competition 2023 - Violin Classical: Pre-Junior Class and also receiving the National Artist’s Trophy from Assistant Professor Colonel Choochat Pitaksakorn.

Furthermore, In the Rave Harps International Prestige 2023, Singapore, Milin competed in two categories. In Lever Apprentice (Age 6 and Younger), She won the Gold Medal with Distinction in her harp performance. To Challenge herself, she also competed in Lever Intermediate (Age 9 and Younger) and won the Silver Medal with Merit in her harp performance!

And that is not all! During the school break, Milin had the opportunity to perform her violin at the Night in Hollywood Concert, and perform her harp at the Best of British Concert held by the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra.

What a busy, and successful summer you have had, Milin! Congratulations!

In Basketball, Gaemyui has participated in basketball tournaments for both 5v5 and 3v3 in July and August, with some great outcomes:

- 1st runner up in the Thai Youth Basketball Invitational 2023 5v5 category (U15 Girls).

- Gaemyui was also selected to play in a Junior NBA Thailand tournament with Thai and international teams, with her team finishing 3rd overall.

- In 3v3 basketball, Gaemyui and her team won the 3v3 UTCC Championship U16 Woman; Bangkok Round, 1st Prize from Air Force Basketball 3v3 Tournament U17 Woman, and 1st Runner up from U15 girl in the same tournament.

What a prolific summer on the Basketball court you have had, Gaemyui, congratulations!

And finally, in Tennis, Emily played her first clay court tennis tournament in Sweden this summer, which is considered to be one of the bigger tournaments there called "Holmen Paper Cup" located in Norrköping outside Stockholm. She got 3rd place, which is a excellent result, and may have gone further if she had not had to withdraw late on in the tournament due to injury. Congratulations Emily on a brave performance!
