Awards Whole School

This week we celebrate a variety of student achievement across academics, music and sport.

Many students at Wellington love to challenge themselves in the mathematics arena, and for siblings Jerry and Ava, they have recently enjoyed success in a range of competitions.

Firstly, in the recent Australia Math Competition Jerry (Senior School) achieved a high distinction award and gold medal whilst Ava (Junior School, Year 6) achieved a silver medal with distinction.

On to the ISMC (International Singapore Math Competition) where Ava won a silver medal and finally, the Kangaroo Math Challenge which saw both Jerry and Ava achieve silver there as well!

It is clear both students have a love for Mathematics, for competition, and for working incredibly hard. Well done to the both of you!

In music, we have some fantastic news from Ete (Year 8) who recently achieved grade 8 with distinction for the piano. Ete is one of our highly talented music scholars, who only this week amazed audiences – both students and parents with his piano performances is School. Ete is not only an exceptional talent but also an inspiration to other students, demonstrating incredible dedication and passion for music. Congratulations Ete!

In sport, we have news of success in the pool with some of our junior swimmers.

Siblings Darin and Daran have competed in the Rookie Swimming Championships where Daran took first place in the 25M breaststroke, and Darin did particularly well, coming first in 25M backstroke and achieving second place finishes in 25M breaststroke, freestyle and freestyle kick.

And finally, another of our swimmers, Nate, has seen the result of his consistent hard work, winning a hoard of medals at the Thammasat Swimming Championships 2022 including first place in both the 50M freestyle and 50M breaststroke and runners up medals in 100M freestyle, 50M butterfly and third place in the 50M kick board. What a great set of results, Nate!

Thank you to all of you who send in your stories, we look forward to sharing another selection with you next week!
