Welcome our weekly selection of student success stories sent to us from families across the school community.

Beginning with tennis, Congratulations to Punn in Year 4, who has had a great few weeks on the Tennis Junior 10s. On Sept 2-3, Punn took Second Place in the Singles competition against Thailand’s No 1 in the age group. He also got to the Semi Final in the Doubles. The following weekend in the Tennis 10s Junior Circuit Championship Punn reached the Quarter Finals and became Thailand’s No 6 ranking in his age group. We are extremely proud of Punn who has been working exclusively with Coach J at Wellington Extra since he was in Reception. He is a true Wellington trained champion!

In academics, huge congratulations to Meimei in Year 8 who has recently won the national championship - Scratch Olympiad 2023. Meimei attended a week-long Prep Camp to prepare to compete in the International round with 40+ countries. Meimei was also honoured during the national Olympiad award ceremony on September 6 at the Ministry of Education. The award was presented by Dr. Atthaphon Sangkhawadew, the Permanent Secretary.

In Music, Kana in Year 5 is celebrating some wonderful results from recent competitions both here in Thailand and abroad.

Over the summer, Kana received the following awards:

  • Gold Prize for 24th Osaka International Music Competition Bangkok Regional Round, (and she will join final round in Osaka next month)
  • 1st Runner Up in final round of GASCA International Music Competition 2023 at Tokyo, Japan
  • First Place Prize for Bangkok International Youth Music Competition 2023

Congratulations, Kana! Best of luck in Osaka!

In Dance, we are delighted to share with you that Haru won the gold medal for Jazz Dance Solo at the Hong Kong Challenge Cup Dance Competition 2023! Brilliant news, Haru, well done!

And finally, we are delighted to inform you of some exciting news regarding two of our Wellington students, Yuri and Garm. They have recently had the opportunity to showcase their musical talents as part of a band called "Dsus6" and participate in the prestigious competition, "National Anthem and Royal Anthem Composition Contest, 2nd Edition," organised by the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC). This competition aims to promote a profound sense of patriotism and respect for Thailand’s national institutions.

Dsus6, amongst numerous other talented bands, successfully advanced to the final round and ultimately clinched the championship title. Their outstanding performance earned them a cash prize of 100,000 Thai Baht. Furthermore, they will be honoured with a trophy and a certificate from the Prime Minister in a special ceremony scheduled for October.

We are extremely proud of Yuri and Garm's accomplishments and their dedication to both their musical pursuits and their values. A marvelous reflection of dedication and talent!
