Welcome to this week’s Stars of Wellington, our weekly celebration of the varied and wonderful accomplishments of our students as they pursue their numerous passions outside of School.
In academics, we are delighted to hear of a number of great results from the recent and prestigious Kangaroo Maths Competition.
The contest is held in more than 80 countries around the world and in its time has had more than 6,000,000 children take part at primary and secondary levels, both domestically and internationally.
Congratulations goes to Tiger (Year 5) and Chris (Year 7) who were both awarded a bronze medal in their respective categories! A wonder achievement!
In music, we are delighted to learn that Garm (Year 8) is the winner of the prestigious "World Top 50 Musicians Award 2022-23- Top10". This esteemed recognition is bestowed upon the finest 50 musicians Worldwide, based on their outstanding performance in both LYM (London Young Musician) seasonal and annual competitions during the past year. What fantastic news, Garm! Congratulations!
In music, we also bring your news of Alice (Year 4) who has been working incredibly hard on both her piano and violin.
At the International Young Musicians Music Competition WIEN (IYMMC), Alice participated in preliminary round for piano and violin, gaining 4 awards overall:
Piano :
- 1st Place Award: Category Grade 4
- 2nd Place Award: Category Age Group
Violin :
- 2nd Place Award: Category Grade 2
- 3rd Place Award: Category Age Group
As a result of her outstanding performances in both instruments, Alice has qualified to the Master Class & One to One Music Lessons by Vienna University Professors, and she has also qualified to represent Thailand’s young musician to the final round competition which will be held at Ehrbar Hall - Vienna, Austria in July 2023!
Furthermore, in the London Young Musician of the Year 2023, Alice won 3 special awards and she was one of the 50 finalists for Musician of the Year 2023 for piano and violin.

In golf, congratulations goes to Marker on winning First Place (Class C Boy) at the Thailand Junior Development Tour (Central) Tournament this weekend (20 – 21 May 2023) at Pattana Golf Club in Chonburi. Well done, Marker, a great result – including finishing on one under par (-1) for the tournament!
In tennis, Emily (Year 4) continues to shine on the tennis court with a championship win at the Tennis 10s Junior Circuit in Bangkok this past weekend – at the age group above her own, as well as achieving runners up in the doubles competition. Emily is now ranked #5 in Thailand in the age 10 and below age group. Brilliant news, Emily!
